This is my favorite book.

My favorite children’s book is Ichigobatakeno Chiisana Obaasan (Tiny Grandma of the Strawberry Patch).  This is a Japanese book but I am going to introduce it because the idea it has for how strawberries become red is so much fun.  It is this grandma that makes the strawberries red.  She lives under ground.  She carries spring water from the bottom all the way up above the ground to mix sunlight to it. This is a hard job for her because she has to climb a lot of steps and repeats many times because she is so tiny.  After the water gets enough light, she moves the water to a huge pot in a room underground.  Then she digs green rocks and crushes them.  When she puts the green rocks to the water, the water changes to red.  She climbs up again out the ground with a bucket of the red water, brush and paints all of the strawberries. Isn’t it a cute story?
